Corruption & Bribery
Whistleblower protections and reporting to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Your Fundamental Legal Rights
• Right to Report
Every citizen has the legal and moral right to report demands for bribes by public servants to the respective State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
• Whistleblower Protection
The law provides mechanisms to protect the identity of individuals who expose corruption in government bodies.
✅ What to Do (Immediate Actions)
- Secretly record audio/video of the official demanding the bribe, if safely possible.
- Contact the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) immediately. They often set up 'traps' to catch corrupt officials red-handed.
- Submit a formal complaint to the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the concerned department.
⛔ What NOT to Do
- Do not pay the bribe and become complicit in the crime.
- Do not confront the official about reporting them before contacting the authorities, as they may destroy evidence.
