Government Misbehavior

Using the RTI Act and filing formal administrative grievances.

Your Fundamental Legal Rights

Right to Information (RTI)

Every citizen has the right to demand information from any public authority regarding their work, documents, and records under the RTI Act, ensuring transparency.

Right to Timely Service

Many states have enacted the Right to Public Services Act, guaranteeing the delivery of public services (like certificates, licenses) within a stipulated time frame.

What to Do (Immediate Actions)

  • File an RTI application to ascertain the status of pending files or reasons for delay.
  • Use the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) portal to file high-level complaints.
  • Maintain a written record/receipt of all applications submitted to the office.

What NOT to Do

  • Do not resort to bribing officials to speed up your work.
  • Do not engage in verbal abuse with public servants, as it can attract IPC charges for obstructing a public servant.
